Food & Drink Inflation Hits 15%
Lots of fairly grim financial forecasts about this week, but we decided to lead with the CGA survey showing annual food and drink inflation in hospitality has hit 15% for the first time.

At Beervana, Jeff writes about Brewers Association Seal of Independence becoming five years old this week. Even though the BA includes a number of massive breweries in their ranks that we wouldn’t identify as “Craft”, the Seal does provide a valuable way to partition the ‘nasty’ Macros.

The Pub Curmudgeon has a nice piece on Sam Smiths finally accepting debit cards across their pub estate. Mobile phones are still banned however, so many will likely miss out on some of their iconic boozers, notably the Citie of Yorke and the Cheshire Cheese in Central London

Stuttgart’s Answer To Oktoberfest
Finally Tempest in a Tankard wrote a nice piece about Germany’s 2nd Festival, the Canstatter Volskfest in Stuttgart. Although the sheer scale of the German Festivals does appeal to us, the lack of modern beer styles means there are perhaps better options.
