Craft Inn Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

Although it might be overshadowed in the public consciousness by Cities such as Manchester and Leeds, the Craft Beer Scene in England’s second city of Birmingham has been absolutely thriving for a number of years.

Less than a mile to the North of the Bullring and New St Station is the Jewellery Quarter, an eclectic mix of mainly Victorian industrial buildings, which is rapidly becoming gentrified as the social hub of the City, with a plentiful mix of bars and restaurants.

It is here that the guys behind the Craft Inn chain have recently opened their fourth Birmingham bar.

I was attracted this week by a Tap Takeover by North Brewing, who would probably be ranked in the Top 5 UK Craft Brewers by many UK Craft Beer Fans.

The bar has twelve keg lines, of which seven were occupied by North, with the remaining five pouring other top names including Arbor and Dugges. A well-stocked fridge in the corner provided further great choices, not that they were needed this week.

Even with UK beer royalty being poured, the regular Thursday night discount of 20% on flights was still being honoured, which was appreciated.

The bar has seating for perhaps twenty people, and would be packed to the gunnels if there were more than thirty people in the place. The atmosphere is exceedingly friendly, and everyone in there was have a great Thursday night!

I haven’t visited any of the other Craft Inn venues yet, but I will be making the effort to right this wrong in the near future.

If the other bars are as well-stocked and welcoming as the Craft Inn Jewellery Quarter, then Birmingham Craft Beer Fans are genuinely being spoiled!
