Little Summer Beer Bash 2024

Little Summer Beer Bash 2024, Unit 27, Lansdown Industrial Estate, Gloucester Rd, Cheltenham GL51 8PL

The morning after our exploits at Phantom, and slightly the worse for wear as a result, the TWICB Team headed to Cheltenham with much anticipation for Little Summer Beer Bash 2024. It is hard to believe that it is six years since we last attended LSBB in Cheltenham!

Considerably more by luck than judgement, Steve had booked us all into a hotel right next to Cheltenham’s best independent Taproom Planet Caravan, so we made a prompt start to the afternoon’s festivities when they opened at 2pm. (Look out for a Taproom review of this excellent establishment in the near future!)

Beach Street Beer Festival
After sampling our way around the LHG Tap Takeover at Planet Caravan we Uber’ed across to DEYA and joined the sizeable queue that had already formed for the evening LSBB session.

LSBB is a festival hosted in rotation by the UK’s west country Craft Beer royalty of Verdant, LHG and DEYA. This year was DEYA’s turn to host and the event was setup across their two adjacent Taprooms, as well as outside in the large courtyard in between.

Luckily the late afternoon sharp rain shower didn’t amount to much, and the evening weather was warm as a large sold-out crowd gathered. In addition to a wide selection of beers from the three co-hosts, there were an additional 20 breweries in attendance, each pouring a rotating selection of two beers. A token system was in operation to purchase beers, with beers mainly costing between £2 and £4 per third, with a few specials costing £5/third.

The Brewery selection was well-curated to include leading UK lights such as Beak, Floc., Rivington, Track and Mills, as well a handful of European guests including Garage, Lervig and Ritual Lab from Italy (which was a new name for us!)

There was a good choice of food available, and entertainment consisted of DJ sets, complemented at one point by a terrific live saxophonist, and two stilt-walkers!
The atmosphere throughout the event was relaxed and vibrant, and the TWICB Team had a great evening.

Next year it is LHG’s turn to host, and we strongly recommend you keep an eye open for tickets going on sale, as they don’t hang around for long!
