50 Pubs a Month Closing in England & Wales
Pretty grim news all round this week. Let’s start with the news that UK pubs are currently closing at the rate of 50-per-month. However this is a slight improvement on the 20-per-week rate that was reported at the start of 2022.

Too Little, Too Late
Predictably, the NTIA greeted the Government’s Energy Price Guarantee, which fixed Electricity at 35% and Gas at 41% of wholesale prices respectively, as “too little, too late”. At this stage, anything short of free energy and zero taxes would likely receive a similar response.
