Scaling Back Of Energy Support
No doubt what the big story of the week is. The Govt. announced a scaling back of the Energy Support programme for businesses, stating that the current support was costing £18Bn per year. To put £18Bn into perspective, that is the equivalent of 3p on everyone’s income tax in the UK.

Mixed Christmas Trading
It turned out that Christmas trading was a mixed-bag for pubs in the UK, with 40% doing better than expected, and 40% doing worse. Considering the combination of disruptions, including strikes, recession and energy costs, it could have been worse.
