Old Street Brewery & Taproom is located near to the canal at Hackney Wick, close to Howling Hops and The Merchant’s Tap, making it a must stop for the craft beer lover. It is just a minute’s walk from Hackney Wick station, just 2 stops down the line from Stratford.

The taproom has a certain rustic charm with wooden tables, barrels and benches, wood covered interior walls, artwork covered external walls and a dark taproom interior that perfectly matches the vibe of the place. The inside is snug but surprisingly spacious, and there is lots of extra covered seating in a courtyard area plus additional uncovered seating elsewhere.

Street food is available from ‘Scoundrels’, a permanent unit in the courtyard serving delicious Mexican food.

The bar has 12 keg taps serving mostly Old Street Brewery beers with the odd guest tap. A large TV screen has the beer listings with full descriptions, so choosing your tipple is an easy pleasure. A well-stocked beer fridge offers additional choices and the bar also stocks wines and spirits.

The taproom has a packed diary of events with live music, food tasting, guided beer tastings, parties amongst other things. Check out their Facebook & Instagram pages for the latest info.

Opening times are 5pm until late Monday to Thursday and from noon until late Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There was a satisfying buzz about the place, even early on a Friday afternoon when we visited, and we imagine their evening events are quite an experience. If you fancy a taproom with plenty of life, then The Old Street Brewery & Taproom is certainly worth a visit.
