Actually, finding your way to the Junkyard is no mean feat! It is hidden at the top of a steep alleyway which leads from the Town Centre up towards the grand old buildings of the Lace Market district.
Once inside, you will find great staff who are always willing to help newcomers navigate their way around the 15-tap menu, which always seems to have been curated with the utmost care. There will usually be a lager and a wheat beer, several pales and IPAs, at least a couple of sours, and several stouts or porters, often including a rare impy from the USA. (When I was there in early February they had the much celebrated Westbrook Mexican Cake!)
If none of the draft beer choices takes your fancy, then there are several well-stocked fridges, containing the all the names you would expect from the great and the good of UK Craft Beer.
The Junkyard also offers an excellent bar snacks and gourmet sandwiches (including several vegan options), all of which are very reasonably priced. In fact, strange as it may seem, people seem to come to the Junkyard as much for the food as they do for the beer. (When I was in there last week, a group of 4 people ordered lunch, washed down with two coffees, a coke and a mineral water!)
Although not so popular in February(!), if you are in the area on a warm and sunny day, the Junkyard has nice secluded sun-terrace at the back for catching a few rays.
