Finally, here is a part-comical/part-tragic statement from Heineken that they have reduced the strength of John Smiths to 3.4% due to “consumer’s health preferences”! The more cynical amongst us would be forgiven for thinking it was actually to squeeze under the new 3.5% duty threshold, which is set to save the Dutch Macro £14.5M in off-sales alone, compared to 2022.
