Let’s start this week with the latest data from Lumina Intelligence’s Eating & Drinking Out Panel, which revealed average spend has reduced 9% in the 12 weeks to 20th March 2022.
Sadly, this is likely to be a continuing trend throughout 2022 and beyond, as inflation really starts to bite and consumers cut back on discretionary spending
Just to prove that we don’t only post stories that we agree with, here is an interesting blog proposing that we shouldn’t always be seeking the next new beer.
The Pub Curmudgeon points out that increasingly the large regional UK beers are cropping up on keg in addition to/instead of on cask. We can’t blame the brewers for following the market trends, but this is definitely further bad news for the long-term viability of cask.
