The Pub Curmudgeon had some reflections this week on the news that Humphrey Smith, the long-standing draconian Chairman of Sam Smith’s, will be stepping down on his 80th birthday in December. We appreciate historic pubs as much as anybody, but let’s hope some younger blood at the top will finally drag the Company into the 21st Century.

Finally, this might be the first time we have ever linked to a CAMRA website, but there was significant news this week regarding the return of the GBBF… and its relocation to the Birmingham NEC! This seems like a very sensible decision which we applaud.
